Media personality and content creator Janie Namukasa has issued an apology to renowned musician Jose Chameleone after spreading false information about him.
This follows a legal threat from Chameleone, who had demanded a public retraction of the defamatory remarks, along with a compensation of 100 million shillings within five days and also warned Namukasa of legal action if she failed to comply.
In a TikTok video posted on February 23, Namukasa admitted that the information she shared was false, explaining that the sources who had provided the details were actually involved in conflicts with Chameleone.
“The people who gave me that information, we later realised, were fighting Jose Chameleone,” she said in the video.
Namukasa also took the opportunity to wish the “valu Valu” singer a swift recovery and expressed her eagerness to work with him in the future.
“I’m really sorry for hurting your feelings, Jose Chameleone. I’m really sorry, and I look forward to working with you when you return. I wish you a quick recovery, may the good Lord protect you,” she added.
The apology comes after Namukasa, who works with Ntinda based radio station, Radio 4 and creates entertainment content on YouTube and TikTok, falsely claimed on February 18 that Chameleone had been arrested in the U.S. for allegedly assaulting his host, Juliet Zawedde.
However, it was later clarified that Chameleone had actually been hospitalized for pancreatic surgery.
Chameleone responded to the claims in a TikTok video later that same day, urging others to avoid spreading false information.
“People like Namukasa should stop spreading baseless rumours. Such actions have serious consequences,” he said. Speaking from his hospital bed, Chameleone assured fans that he was preparing for surgery and promised to share updates.
He also expressed gratitude to those who were praying for his recovery.
