Eddie Mutwe, born Edward Ssebufu and a close bodyguard to National Unity Platform (NUP) leader Bobi Wine, has told a court in Masaka that he is in severe physical agony and has not received any specialized medical care following his alleged torture while in military detention.

Appearing before Grade One Magistrate Abdallah Kayiza , Mutwe revealed that he has been surviving on painkillers alone since his remand over a week ago.

With visible injuries on his arms and legs, he told the court, “I take 12 painkillers every day. I feel like I am dying… If they must cut off my arms, let them do it, just so I can leave this place and get treatment. I’m dying from the pain.”

Bobi Wine previously alleged that Mutwe had been subjected to electric shocks, waterboarding, and brutal beatings while in military custody. He has since called for Mutwe’s immediate release to allow him to access urgent medical attention.

Eddie Mutwe is currently facing multiple charges alongside four other bodyguards, including robbery, assault, and malicious damage to property.

His emotional testimony and visible suffering have intensified calls from opposition leaders and human rights activists, who are demanding that he be granted immediate medical care.
