The family of Gen. Salim Saleh, the head of Operation Wealth Creation, has dismissed rumors circulating on social media about his health, calling them “comical” and “ridiculous.”

They condemned those spreading false information, criticizing their lack of decency.

This week, several social media users began sharing claims that President Museveni’s younger brother, Gen. Caleb Akandwanaho (commonly known as Gen. Saleh), was hospitalized in critical condition.

One user even suggested that the general had been “airlifted to God-knows-where” because no local health facility in Gulu could handle his condition. Other TikTok posts falsely claimed that Gen. Saleh had passed away, and that his death was being kept secret by the government.

In response to the false reports, the family expressed their disappointment. Mrs. Sheila Ebaka, Gen. Saleh’s wife, shared a photo of him smiling at home, emphasizing the absurdity of the rumors.

“The dead don’t speak, nor do they smile,” she wrote.

She also criticized those wishing harm on her husband, calling them “miserable” and lamenting the “dark humor” of some people. “Common decency isn’t for everyone,” she added.

Despite the negativity, the family thanked those who had sent encouraging messages and offered support.

“We receive all the positive energy and blessings abound. We will always sing praise in the land of the living and are thankful for the gift of life and good health thus far. God is still in the business of greatness.”

Gen. Saleh, who is known for his quiet nature, recently made a public statement urging Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF) President Eddy Kenzo to address the influx of musicians seeking financial help at his Gulu home ahead of the Christmas season.
