singer-turned-politician Mathias Walukagga has hit back hard at fellow artist Ronald Mayinja, dismissing his claims of betrayal by National Unity Platform and its leader Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine.
Speaking during a recent interview hosted by Frank Ntambi and Shalom Kawesi, Mayinja alleged he was promised a parliamentary ticket for Gomba, only for it to be “sold to the highest bidder” a move he says pushed him to cross over to the ruling party.
In a sharp rebuttal on the same platform, he flipped the narrative, accusing Mayinja of being the real betrayer of the struggle.

“He wasn’t betrayed he chose the money,” Walukagga fired.
Herevealed that the two were once approached with a lucrative deal disguised as an NGO arrangement, complete with promises of over UGX 1 billion and a brand-new V8.
According to Walukagga, the proposal included a meeting with President Yoweri Museveni in Kisozi something he says immediately raised suspicion.
After consulting Mayinja and their associate, they initially agreed to reject the offer.

“I was shocked to learn that Mayinja went ahead to Kisozi and took the money. That’s when I knew he had switched sides,” Walukagga revealed.
He says he later confronted Mayinja after his Enkuuka festival performance, warning him that public backlash would soon replace the cheers.
The fallout between Mayinja and NUP later spilled into the public, with the singer distancing himself from Bobi Wine.
Ironically, Walukagga himself hasn’t escaped controversy. During the recent elections, his own ticket was nullified — and he later admitted selling it to another aspirant. Despite the admission, he says NUP never issued an official response.

Now, with both sides trading accusations, what started as a political disagreement has turned into a full-blown war of words exposing deep cracks within the movement.
