Dr. Hajjat Kulthum Nabunya has officially announced the end of her marriage to Acram Gumisiriza, bringing closure to a chapter marked by personal struggle, reflection, and hope for reconciliation.
In an emotional and heartfelt statement shared on her social media platforms, Dr. Kulthum revealed that the decision to separate came after months of contemplation and efforts to mend a relationship that no longer met her emotional and spiritual expectations.
“I met Mr. Acram Gumisiriza in 2021, and we were officially married in 2022. At the time, I was still grieving the loss of my beloved husband, the late Sheikh Muzaata, and seeking companionship. Sadly, things did not unfold as I had hoped,” she wrote.
She went on to express that, over time, she realized the emotional bond and sense of partnership she once felt had faded.
“The love we once shared feels like something we were holding onto out of habit or fear. I no longer feel seen, heard, or supported and if he’s honest, he may feel the same,” she added.

Dr. Kulthum’s message stood out for its tone of emotional clarity and maturity. Rather than bitterness, it reflected a deep sense of acceptance and a desire to move forward with dignity and grace.
“I hope we can part ways peacefully. I wish him healing and happiness in whatever his future holds,” she concluded.
She also acknowledged the spiritual and religious gravity of her decision, noting that she had spent time in prayer and introspection before reaching this point.
She shared that the divorce proceedings will be overseen by Sheikh Abdul Rahaman Serunjoji, alongside her family.
While this is not the first time the couple has faced challenges in their marriage, Dr. Kulthum made it clear that this time, the journey together has come to an end.
We extend our heartfelt wishes for peace and healing to Dr. Kulthum and her family as they begin this new chapter.
