Gravity Omutujju has hit back at Buganda’s Katikkiro, Charles Peter Mayiga, following accusations of unfair treatment and misinformation regarding his music.
In a recent video, Gravity rejected allegations that his songs are vulgar, arguing that his work is simply a form of artistic expression.
The controversy began when Mayiga directed Buganda Kingdom’s media platforms, including CBS Radio and BBS Terefayina, to stop playing music by Gravity Omutujju and fellow artist Lil Pazo. Mayiga argued that their music could upset listeners and did not meet the Kingdom’s standards.
He further stated that he wanted to avoid any questions from the Kabaka or the public about the content aired on these stations.
However, Gravity strongly disagreed with these claims, pointing out that CBS and BBS Terefayina had never supported his music since he began his career in 2011.
He suggested that the information given to the Katikkiro was inaccurate and damaging to his reputation.
“Ssebo Owek. Katikkiro, I want to tell you that I do not sing vulgar songs, as you claimed while addressing me. I have never done so and I will never do so. I am simply an artist who uses art in my music. Additionally, your media stations have never played any of my songs since I began singing in 2011,” Gravity said.
He went on to defend his work, emphasizing that his music is a reflection of his creativity, not an outlet for vulgarity.
