Big Talent artist and UNMF, Eddy Kenzo, has officially withdrawn from the public debate he had earlier suggested with fellow musician Azawi.

The cancellation was confirmed by NBS After5 show host Douglas Lwanga through a post on his X (formerly Twitter) account.

“I have cancelled the one debate I proposed with Azawi,” Kenzo stated.

The debate idea initially emerged after Kenzo publicly challenged Azawi during a media interview, expressing interest in a one-on-one conversation to clear up ongoing misunderstandings between them.

In response, Azawi welcomed the opportunity for dialogue, calling it a long-overdue discussion. However, she set several conditions for the debate, including the choice of venue.

Given their similar backgrounds and shared journey from humble beginnings, Azawi proposed that the debate be held in the ghettos—places symbolic of their roots so that members of the local communities could attend and engage with the issues being addressed.

Following Eddy Kenzo’s decision to cancel the event, social media users expressed mixed reactions.

Some criticized the move, labeling him as unwilling to face Azawi in a public setting, especially given her reputation as a strong public speaker and advocate for grassroots concerns.

The reasons behind Kenzo’s withdrawal remain unclear, but the development has stirred debate among fans and industry observers alike.
