Mawokota North Member of Parliament and celebrated musician, Hon. Hillary Kiyaga popularly known as Dr. Hilderman has once again underscored his unwavering dedication to advancing copyright reform in Uganda.
In a recent interview on Sanyuka TV, Dr. Hilderman acknowledged the visible impact of his work in Parliament and the progress he has made.
However, he emphasized that strengthening copyright laws remains his foremost priority.
“My efforts are visible, and I’ve accomplished a lot, but copyright reform remains my top priority,” he stated.

A longstanding advocate for the rights of artists, Dr. Hilderman has consistently championed the protection of intellectual property in Uganda’s creative industry.
He argues that the current legal framework falls short in safeguarding local talent and ensuring artists receive fair compensation for their work.t
His renewed call for reform comes amid growing frustration among Ugandan creatives over issues such as exploitation and lack of royalties.
Dr. Hilderman has pledged to continue pushing for amendments to the existing copyright laws and to advocate for their effective enforcement throughout his tenure in Parliament.
