Tanzanian music star Diamond Platnumz has reportedly deleted all his social media posts that showed support for President Samia Suluhu Hassan, following rising tension and unrest in the country after the recently concluded general elections.

Tanzania went to the polls on Wednesday, October 29, with President Suluhu running as the Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) flag bearer. Her campaign had gained massive support from some of the country’s biggest stars including Diamond Platnumz, Ali Kiba, Rayvanny, and Zuchu.

However, the elections have sparked nationwide protests after two major opposition candidates were disqualified  a move that many citizens have called unfair. Reports indicate that Chadema Party leader Tundu Lissu has been jailed on treason charges, while Luhaga Mpina was disqualified over “legal technicalities.”

Following the chaos, the government has allegedly imposed curfews, restricted internet access, and deployed the military in several major cities to contain demonstrations.

Sources reveal that celebrities who publicly endorsed President Suluhu are now facing public backlash and threats, with some even reporting attacks on their businesses.

Diamond Platnumz, who had been one of the most outspoken supporters of the president, has since deleted all political posts from his Instagram page, including a heartfelt message he once wrote praising Suluhu’s leadership and achievements in education, health, and infrastructure.

In the deleted post, Diamond had written:

“You are a very gentle president, hardworking and very wise, but just know that human beings, most of the time, we don’t like praising someone until the day they leave… You have done it and you continue to do a great job… Know that many love you and appreciate the good that you are doing in our country… We will also show you our love by voting for you.”

The singer’s sudden decision to erase his campaign posts has left fans talking, with many suggesting that he might be trying to distance himself from the political heat and maintain his neutral public image.
