Derrick Nyeko, the Member of Parliament for Makindye East, has accused Mathias Mpuuga, the national coordinator of the Democratic Alliance, and his associate Abed Bwanika of plotting to eliminate him after he confronted them about corruption.

Derrick Nyeko, a representative of the National Unity Platform (NUP), made the allegations on his official X (formerly Twitter) account.

“After confronting them about corruption, I refused to be part of their twisted schemes. At one point, they even discussed eliminating me,” Nyeko wrote.

The young legislator also accused Mpuuga of tribalism, claiming that he was repeatedly denied opportunities while Bwanika, due to his background, was given assignments instead.

“I couldn’t believe the level of tribalism and corruption that Mathias Mpuuga has allowed to thrive in his own circle. I’ve never encountered such discrimination based on my background, just as Mpuuga often highlights my origins,” Nyeko said.

He further alleged that Mpuuga sent Abed Bwanika to the president’s residence over an issue as trivial as not trusting someone from Dokolo.

Nyeko emphasized that after confronting Mpuuga and Bwanika about their corrupt activities, he refused to become involved in their “twisted schemes.”

Given these allegations, Nyeko expressed disbelief that Mpuuga would even consider running for president.

This confrontation comes shortly after Mpuuga urged voters, particularly those in the Buganda region, to make wise choices in the upcoming 2026 elections.

Mpuuga stressed the importance of electing leaders who would amplify the people’s voices, rather than those who remain silent once in power.

“I sympathize with the voters of Makindye East for electing an MP who cannot speak a single word on the floor of Parliament,” Mpuuga remarked.
