Denis Hamson Obua, the Government Chief Whip, has officially announced his candidacy for the position of Vice Chairperson for Northern Uganda on the NRM Central Executive Committee (CEC).
In a video shared on his personal X (formerly Twitter) account, Denis Hamson Obua, who also chairs the dominant NRM Parliamentary Caucus due to his ministerial role, expressed his desire to serve the party in this capacity.
“Greetings to all Ugandans, especially the leaders and members of NRM. I seek your support and mandate to serve as the NRM Vice Chairperson for Northern Uganda,” Denis Hamson Obua said.
He emphasized his commitment to continuing the success of the NRM in the Northern Region, stating, “My vision and mission is to consolidate the gains and achievements of NRM in the Northern Region.”
As Government Chief Whip, Obua has been instrumental in coordinating the government’s legislative agenda, ensuring the smooth passage of critical bills. He has previously held roles such as Commissioner of Parliament, State Minister of Sports, Chairperson of the Science and Technology Committee, and spokesperson for the Commonwealth Youth Forum, among others.
The NRM Central Executive Committee, the party’s highest decision-making body, plays a vital role in shaping political direction, formulating policies, and overseeing daily operations.
The position of Vice Chairperson for Northern Uganda has remained vacant since the passing of former Speaker Jacob Oulanyah in 2022.
