Ugandan singer Dax Vibez has revealed that he is currently facing financial difficulties, blaming the situation on the government’s delay in amending the country’s copyright law.
According to the “At My Door” singer, Uganda’s music industry continues to suffer major setbacks because musicians are not adequately protected or compensated for their creative work.
Dax Vibez believes that if the copyright law were updated, artists would be able to earn fairer royalties and enjoy more sustainable livelihoods.
“It’s been almost a year since government officials announced that the copyright law was in its final stages, but nothing has changed,” he lamented.
The singer urged the government to give the issue priority, noting that many musicians are struggling financially despite their music being widely consumed by the public.
The amendment of Uganda’s copyright law has long been a key demand among artists and industry stakeholders, who argue that stronger legal protections would ensure fair earnings, safeguard intellectual property, and curb exploitation within the entertainment sector.
The singer urged the government to give the issue priority, noting that many musicians are struggling financially despite their music being widely consumed by the public.
Dax Vibez,brother to renowned musician and political figure Bobi Wine joins several other artists in calling for swift government action to address the matter.
