Renowned Ugandan YouTuber and content creator Shalom Kaweesi is set to spend this year’s Christmas behind bars after court remanded him to Luzira Prison on charges of cyber harassment and hate speech.
Shalom was on Monday evening arraigned before the Makindye Chief Magistrate’s Court and remanded until December 30, 2025
.
The charges stem from an alleged online attack on NRM mobiliser and social media personality Full Figure.
According to court records, in a YouTube video published in August, Shalom reportedly made statements that Full Figure described as hateful and cyber harassing. The social media personality later filed a complaint, prompting police to open investigations.
Earlier in the day, Shalom was arrested and briefly detained at Katwe Police Station before being produced in court.

At Makindye Court, prosecutors formally charged him with cyber harassment and hate speech, offences under Uganda’s cyber laws. The court then ordered that he be remanded to Luzira Prison until his next appearance later this month.
Despite the tense court session, Shalom did not face the ordeal alone. Several of his close associates, including Frank Ntambi, Kasuku, and his wife, were present in court to show solidarity and moral support.
The case has sparked wide debate online, with many awaiting the court’s next move as the legal battle unfolds.
