Singer and presidential advisor on Kampala and Ghetto affairs, Catherine Kusasira, has expressed frustration with the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM), warning she may leave the party after being denied access to Lt. Gen. Proscovia Nalyweyiso during an NRM function.
A long-time supporter of President Yoweri Museveni and vocal proponent of the NRM for nearly a decade, Kusasira remained loyal to the party even as many fellow entertainers joined Bobi Wine in opposition politics.

However, Kusasira now feels sidelined within the party. She claims her efforts are only recognized by the President and a handful of leaders, while others, including security personnel, continue to treat her with disregard.

“I’m tired of the disrespect from some people in NRM, how could they stop me from meeting Gen. Nalweyiso? I’ve done a lot for the party, but only the President seems to recognize it. Sometimes I think of stepping away and focusing on other things.”she said.

Although she had previously expressed interest in running for the Buikwe Woman MP seat, Kusasira appears to have withdrawn from the race and is instead focusing her efforts on supporting and promoting the party despite growing tensions within its ranks.
