National Unity Platform (NUP) leader and presidential hopeful Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, popularly known as Bobi Wine, has officially launched his 11-point manifesto for the 2026 general elections, promising a complete overhaul of Uganda’s political, economic, and social systems.
Addressing thousands of supporters in Kagoma, Jinja District, Bobi Wine laid out an ambitious reform agenda aimed at confronting what he described as Uganda’s entrenched governance crisis. The manifesto, he said, is centered on the idea of “resetting Uganda.”

“Our country is in serious trouble, but these problems are not beyond repair, We can fix Uganda if we start afreshif we press the reset button like we do on our phones. That’s what the NUP government intends to do.”Kyagulanyi said.
Key Highlights of the 11-Point Manifesto
Kyagulanyi’s reform proposals include:
Restoring Constitutionalism & Rule of Law: A pledge to revive respect for human rights, judicial independence, and the rule of law, which he says have been severely undermined under the current regime.
Health Sector Revamp: Every Health Centre III to have a qualified doctor and a larger, better-supported medical workforce.

Presidential & Parliamentary Reforms: Reinstating presidential term limits, reducing the size of the cabinet to 20 ministers, and slashing the number of MPs and their salaries to redirect resources to essential services.
Limiting Executive Power: A proposal to reduce presidential powers and establish an independent judicial appointments commission.
Justice & Human Rights: Ending the trial of civilians in military courts and ordering the unconditional release of all political prisoners on the first day in office.
Fighting Corruption: Introduction of annual government transparency reports, alongside eliminating excessive state expenditure, including scrapping the roles of Resident District Commissioners (RDCs) and reducing the size of presidential convoys.
Ending Political Commercialization: A commitment to curbing the monetization of politics and patronage-based governance.
Infrastructure & Utilities: Promises of free rural electrification, halved electricity tariffs, and a reduction of water prices to UGX 19 per jerrycan.
Education Overhaul: Provision of free education, school meals, scholastic materials (including sanitary pads), and a new curriculum focusing on Academics, Agriculture, Athletics, and the Arts.
National Unity & Reconciliation: Kyagulanyi emphasized a message of healing, pledging that his government would focus on forgiveness and rebuilding rather than revenge.
People-Centered Governance: A shift towards inclusive, transparent leadership aimed at empowering citizens and restoring public trust in government.

A Call to Action
Bobi Wine called on Ugandans to rally behind the NUP’s vision for a “New Uganda,” urging collective effort in dismantling what he called a broken and outdated system.
“The system is rigged against ordinary Ugandans, but we have the power to change it.This manifesto is not just a plan it’s a promise to rebuild our country from the ground up.”, Bobi Wine said.
