National Unity Platform (NUP) president Robert Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine, has called on party members and supporters who are afraid of imprisonment to step aside from the political struggle.
With the election season approaching, he warned that increased arrests of opposition figures are likely.
Speaking at the NUP headquarters in Makerere-Kavule, Bobi Wine revealed that he had received credible information about an impending crackdown on his close associates and supporters.
“If you fear prison, please leave the struggle. I’ve received information that they’re planning to arrest everyone around me.”,he said.

Referencing the ruling party’s planned rally at Kololo, Kyagulanyi announced that the NUP would hold a parallel rally in Katwe.
“Those who are scared should not come. We are engaged in a real struggle, and there is no space for fear,” he emphasized.
He concluded by saying that this phase of political activity would mark the beginning of what he termed a “protest vote” against the current regime.
