National Unity Platform (NUP) president Robert Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine, has called on former Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga to leave the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM), saying she is undervalued within the party.

Speaking during the launch of NUP’s new regional headquarters in Iganga, Bobi Wine expressed solidarity with Kadaga, noting that, by clan tradition, she is his Senga (paternal aunt), as they both belong to the Mbogo (Buffalo) clan.

He criticized the treatment Kadaga has been receiving from the NRM, particularly in light of her ongoing rivalry with current Speaker Anita Among over the position of NRM’s national female vice chairperson.

“I want to send a message to someone who is dear to the Basoga and to me personally Hon Rebecca Kadaga. You call her Mama here, but I call her Senga because we share the Mbogo clan. Those people don’t value her. She should join the forces of change, where she will be respected and appreciated,” Bobi Wine said.

President Museveni recently cautioned Kadaga against acting with a sense of entitlement in front of NRM delegates, further highlighting the tensions within the party.

Bobi Wine also rallied the people of Busoga to stand with NUP, reminding them that the party has deep roots in the region. He urged them to embrace it as their own and actively support its growth and mission.
