A family dispute has escalated between blood sisters Betty Mpologoma and Phoebe Nassolo, with the latter facing accusations of cattle theft.
Betty Mpologoma dragged Nassolo to police, accusing her of conspiring with some of their elder sibling’s children to steal 11 cows from their mother.
Nassolo was arrested on February 11th and initially detained at Kibuye Police Station in Namasuba before being transferred to Kanoni Police.
After spending several days in custody, she was eventually brought to court.With the help of her lawyer, Counsel Aziz, Nassolo managed to secure a cash bail of Shs1.5 million, a sum reportedly sent by singer Eddy Kenzo
However, she remains angry with her sister for causing her to spend almost a week in jail, insisting the theft accusations are unfounded.
Nassolo maintains she was not involved in the theft, claiming instead that she has been the primary caregiver for their ailing mother.
Nassolo also suggested that the real reason for her arrest was not the stolen cows, but rather a man they both were involved with.
She claimed that Betty had tried to steal away her army boyfriend, despite Betty being married to the well-known producer, writer, and singer Dr. Tee.
In an interview, Betty Mpologoma confirmed the incident occurred last month but denied being the sole person responsible for her sister’s arrest. She clarified that the matter was a family decision, which had initially been kept private.
“I’m not the one behind it, but it is a family matter involving all of us. It’s not just me, though I am the more well-known one. We had to address her actions as a family because she disturbed our mother,” Betty explained. She also accused Kisa Kyamukama of spreading rumors aimed at damaging her reputation.
Betty added that her primary focus has been caring for their mother, who fell ill after the incident, and she has no time for the legal matters surrounding her sister’s arrest.
