Ugandan music star Bebe Cool has revealed that he recently rejected a Shs 100 million offer to perform at a major event, saying the amount did not reflect his true value as an artist.

Speaking about his approach to negotiating performance fees, Bebe Cool emphasized that he only takes the stage when he’s fairly compensated.

“Any time you see me performing at a big concert, just know I was paid well,” he said.

The singer shared that his decision-making process involves several factors: the type of concert, the organizer, the lineup of artists, and the event’s history, especially in terms of artist remuneration.

Recalling the recent offer, Bebe Cool explained that he had asked for $100,000 (approximately Shs 380 million), but the event organizer seemingly misunderstood him.

“He thought I was joking. During our meeting, he told his assistant to bring Shs 100 million and hand it to me. I told him to keep it. That’s only about $30,000, and I knew the scale of the concert didn’t match that figure.”Bebe Cool recounted.

The artist’s stance highlights his confidence in his brand and a growing emphasis on fair compensation in Uganda’s music industry.
