Ugandan musicians Moses Ssali, better known as Bebe Cool, and Robert Kyagulanyi, aka Bobi Wine, once faced off in a highly publicized music battle at Kyadondo Rugby Grounds. Despite the event, there has never been an official declaration of who won, with both sides claiming victory.
Now, Bebe Cool has opened up about how he tricked Bobi Wine into the battle. He revealed that his motivation was to get back at Bobi Wine for humiliating his fellow musician, Chameleone, at Kati Kati Grounds.
“At the time, Chameleone wasn’t involved in music politics, but Bobi Wine was. He challenged Chameleone to a battle just to humiliate him, and he succeeded. That night, Chameleone even knelt on stage to apologize—that was humiliation,” Bebe Cool explained.

According to Bebe Cool, Bobi Wine fell into his trap, ultimately getting humiliated in the Kyadondo battle. He mentioned that Bobi Wine left the venue just after midnight, while he himself performed until 5:00 a.m.

“I felt bad for what Bobi Wine did to Chameleone, so I tricked him into the battle at Kyadondo. I showed him levels, and the videos from that night are still around. He left after just a few hours, while I kept performing until 5:00 a.m. because his catalog was done,” Bebe Cool said.

Despite the past rivalry, Bebe Cool believes that artists today should focus more on music than on fights, as the latter no longer bring the same rewards.
