Gagamel boss Moses Ssali, better known as Bebe Cool, has finally shed light on the deeply personal reason behind his years-long grudge against fellow artist and politician Bobi Wine.
Their rivalry spanning more than a decade and is one of the most talked-about in Uganda’s entertainment industry, marked by clashes over music, politics, and influence.
But according to Bebe Cool, what truly drove a wedge between them went far beyond industry competition or political differences.
Speaking at the Bride and Groom Expo earlier today, Bebe Cool revealed that the heart of the animosity lies in a personal betrayal during one of the darkest chapters of his life when his wife, Zuena Kirema, briefly left him.
“What hurt me most was that at my lowest, when Zuena left, Bobi Wine chose to mock me instead of offering any support. And yet, when he and Barbie were going through issues, she would come to my home for refuge. I opened my doors when his house was shaking.”Bebe Cool said emotionally.
He described the incident as a betrayal that struck deeper than their usual battles over politics or music.
“This wasn’t about our careers or ideologies—this was about brotherhood. I expected empathy, not ridicule,” Bebe Cool added, emphasizing that he remained silent for years out of respect for their shared past and their families.
The ‘Love You Everyday’ singer was also clear about what it would take to heal the rift: “Unless he publicly apologizes, I will never forgive him. Without that, we will never see eye to eye.”
Bebe Cool’s revelations add another layer to one of Uganda’s most enduring celebrity feuds. Both he and Bobi Wine rose to stardom in the early 2000s but have since taken starkly different paths,Bobi Wine entering politics as the leader of the National Unity Platform, while Bebe Cool remains a strong supporter of the ruling government.
While fans have long hoped for reconciliation, this emotional disclosure suggests that any reunion is unlikely at least not without a public gesture from Bobi Wine.
