Celebrated Ugandan musician Moses Ssali, popularly known as Bebe Cool, has come out in support of Baba TV’s controversial decision to hire TikTok personality Pretty Nicole, a move that has sparked backlash among many Ugandans.
Bebe Cool expressed confusion over the criticism, questioning why people are angry at the station for giving a chance to a young girl with potential.
He applauded the TV station for offering Pretty Nicole an opportunity to earn a living through honest work.
Pretty Nicole first gained public attention a few years ago after a video went viral showing her being assaulted by a group of girls who accused her of trying to steal someone’s boyfriend. Although her attacker was briefly jailed, Nicole eventually reconciled with the man at the center of the drama, and the two are now reportedly married.
After the incident, Nicole received support from figures like Hajjat Kulthum, who attempted to help her return to school. However, Nicole made it clear that she had no interest in continuing formal education beyond Primary Seven, preferring instead to pursue hands-on work that could help her earn a living.
Her journey took another hit when private photos and videos of her were leaked online, leading many former sympathizers to turn against her.
Despite the challenges and reduced public sympathy, Nicole has been actively seeking ways to make money and improve her life.
Bebe Cool believes that employing Nicole is a step in the right direction.
“I don’t understand why Ugandans are so angry at Baba TV for employing Pretty Nicole,We should be happy that a poor girl’s life is about to change. She now has a job and can earn money in a respectable way, rather than resorting to harmful activities.”,Bebe Cool said.
According to the musician, society should focus on supporting and uplifting young people who are trying to find better paths, rather than tearing them down.
