Gagamel International boss Bebe Cool is switching gears once again as he confirms that his next EP will be fully Amapiano.
The music legend, known for his trademark reggae and ragga sound, says the industry has changed and artistes must evolve to survive.
Speaking during an interview with Nyasha Michelle, Bebe Cool revealed that sticking to one signature sound has become difficult, especially when it no longer brings in money.
His recent album Break The Chains already showed a big shift, with the singer experimenting with Afro-inspired sounds instead of the ragga vibes that made him a star.
“As times change, it’s tricky to say you want to keep your sound. It is expensive to hold on to a sound if you’re not getting paid,” he explained.
According to Bebe Cool, music is not just passion it’s a business. And right now, trending genres like Afrobeats, Afro-Tech, and Afro-Pop are what audiences want.
“If there’s a genre that is selling, the advice is to move to that. Your issue is not just keeping your style but having money in your pocket, taking care of yourself and your family,” he said.
When asked whether he plans to dive into Amapiano, he didn’t even hesitate.
“Yes, I am moving straight away. My next EP… Amapiano straight up!”
Despite criticism over his shift to Afro sounds, Bebe Cool isn’t slowing down. Instead, he’s ready to ride the wave of trending genres and Amapiano is next on his list.
