Anita Among, the Speaker of Parliament, has issued a firm warning to the National Unity Platform (NUP) leadership, urging them to refrain from meddling in the affairs of the Teso sub-region.
This warning follows NUP President Robert Kyagulanyi’s recent decision to present war claimants from Teso at the party’s headquarters last week.
Anita Among emphasized that the matter of war claimants is being handled by the Office of the Attorney General, and there is no need for NUP to politicize the issue.

“The relevant authorities are already addressing this, and we do not want it to become a political issue,” Anita Among stated.
The Speaker’s remarks highlight the growing tensions between the ruling party and the opposition.
NUP’s actions in the Teso sub-region have raised concerns, with Among urging the party to respect the boundaries of the institutions involved.

She stressed the importance of ensuring that the issue is managed in a fair and transparent way, free from political interference.
“We want the matter to be handled properly, without any external influence,” she added.
Thewarning has sparked significant interest in the political landscape, leaving many eager to see how NUP will respond.
Will the opposition heed the caution, or will they continue their involvement in Teso’s affairs? Only time will reveal the outcome.
