Abbey Musinguzi, better known as Abtex and the proprietor of Abtex Promotions, has voiced his frustration with fellow Ugandan event promoters, accusing them of lacking unity and goodwill.
During an appearance on Sanyuka TV’s Uncut, Abtex expressed disappointment over the lack of support he’s received from others in the industry.
He claimed that, despite being in the same business, most promoters in Uganda do not genuinely support each other.
“Ugandan promoters — we’re not good people. We don’t wish each other well,” he said bluntly.
Drawing comparisons with other sectors like the taxi industry, Abtex highlighted how those groups often cooperate and support one another for the greater good.
In contrast, he said, event promoters only come together when there’s money to be made.
“When there’s profit involved, we’re quick to unite. But when someone is struggling or suffering a loss, you won’t see that same solidarity,” he added.
According to him, the industry is rife with jealousy, gossip, and sabotage, rather than collaboration. He went as far as labeling his peers as “bewitchers” — people who harbor ill intentions and actively work against each other’s success.
His candid remarks have stirred conversation about the lack of cohesion and professionalism among Ugandan promoters, sparking a call for introspection and change in the industry.
