The National Unity Platform (NUP) has announced the postponement of its president, Robert Kyagulanyi, also known as Bobi Wine, from visiting Gulu City as initially scheduled.
Bobi Wine, who is currently on a nationwide tour to mobilize party members ahead of the 2026 general elections, had planned to visit Gulu on Saturday, November 16, 2024.
Samuel Okot, the NUP Coordinator for the Acholi sub-region, explained to the media that due to the high demand for Bobi Wine to visit multiple districts in Acholi, the decision was made to reschedule his trip to Gulu.
This will allow him to address other areas and engage with more supporters. Okot also noted that the closure of Karuma Bridge had created logistical challenges, limiting their ability to properly engage with Northern Uganda supporters.
Despite rumors circulating, Okot denied claims that NUP’s regional office in Gulu had been closed, calling them baseless accusations spread by members of the ruling party to undermine their efforts.
Brenda Atim Laker, the Deputy Secretary for the Women’s Wing in the Acholi sub-region, highlighted the ongoing grassroots mobilization for the upcoming elections. She urged women in the region to take up leadership roles within NUP, emphasizing that the party is inclusive and offers opportunities for all.
