The hate speech case involving comedian Obedi Lubega alias Reign has been postponed until December 18 after his accuser failed to appear in court.

Reign, famous for his work with the comedy duo “Maulana & Reign,” was arrested a few months agoon charges related to allegedly inciting youth participation in the #March2Parliament protests and was detained by security forces at his home in Mutundwe, Rubaga South Division, before being granted bail.

Upon his return to court, the accuser’s absence prompted the judge to adjourn the case, warning that if the accuser fails to appear in December, the case could be dismissed.

Reign’s lawyer, Nalukoola, expressed confidence in the case, stating that it would be pointless to press charges without presenting witnesses. He vowed to challenge any future testimonies.

Reign expressed gratitude to his lawyer for the ongoing support and remained optimistic that they would win the case in December.

He dismissed the charges as a “lightweight” matter, suggesting they were politically motivated, driven by the government’s fear of his influence and popularity.
