In Uganda, homosexual sex is punishable by up to 14 years in prison, although prosecutions under this law are not common. In 2020, a group of activists campaigned for the law to be overturned but the Ugandan High Court ruled against them and allowed the colonial-era law to remain.
Papa Cidy joins a growing list of public figures and celebrities who have publicly come out in Uganda to confirm they belong to the LGBTQ pride movement likes of Julie Mutesasira,Afande Kerekere among others.
