1. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Located in Kanungu District in Uganda, the National Park is part of the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and is situated along the Democratic Republic of Congo boarder next to Virunga National Park and next to the Albertine Rift.

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest  National  Park is believed to have been set up in 1942 before it was mater gazette as a National park in 1992, then turned into a wildlife sanctuary to protect the endangered Gorillas.

 

2. Queen Elizabeth National Park

Queen Elizabeth National Park spans Kasese District, Kamwenge, Rubirizi and Rukunjiri Districts and it is approximately 400 kilometers by road Southwest of Kampala the capital city of Uganda.

The park was founded in 1952 as Kazinga National Park by combining the lake George and Lake Edward Game reserves and renamed two years later to commemorate a visit by Queen Elizabeth.

 

3. Murchison Falls National Park

A National Park in Uganda, managed by the Wild Life Authority, located in North Western Uganda, spreads in land from the shores of lake Albert around the Victoria Nile upt to the Karuma Falls.

Murchison Falls National Park is also lnown as Kabalega National Park and also known for having the the world’s most powerful waterfall. The park’s wildlife also includes elephants, hippos, and Chimpanzees.

 

4. Jinja Source Of The Nile

Located in Jinja, about 1 to five hours from Kampala City. Its River is best known as the longest River in Africa with lake Victoria as its source and starts its 6,500km journey to the Mediterranean Sea.

5. Ssese Island

The Island is in Uganda, are an archipelago of eighty four Islands in the North Western part of Lake Nalubale in Uganda.

Ssese Islands are coterminous with the Kalangala District in Southern Central Uganda.

 

6. Kidepo Valley National Park

The park is located near Karenga in Kaabong District in the North Eastern corner of Uganda.

7. Rwenzori Mountains

These are a range of Mountains in Eastern Africa located on the boarder between Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The highest peak of Rwenzori reaches 5,109 meters and the range’s upper regions are permanently snow capped and glaciated.

 

8. Lake Mburo National Park

The park is located in Kiruhura District in the Western region of Uganda about 30km East of Mbarara and about 240km by road, West of Kampala.

Lake Mburo National Park was originally gazetted in1933 as a controlled hunting  area and upgraded to a game reserve in 1963.

 

9. Mgahinga Gorilla National Park

A National Park in Southern Western Uganda which was created in 1991. It is a home of about 39 mammals including the mountain Gorilla, golden monkeys, buffalos, elephants among others.

Mgahinga National park was created to protect the rare mountain Gorillas that inhabit its dense forests.
