Fresh from losing the Nakawa West parliamentary race, the former entertainment figure and journalist turned politician, Miles Rwamiti Apuuli has reaffirmed his loyalty to the people of Nakawa, promising to return to the ballot in 2031. And this time, he says, it’s unfinished business.

Rwamiti, who has steadily transitioned from showbiz into politics, has never shied away from the rough terrain of electoral contests. His journey has seen him move through FDC, NRM, and later the Common Man’s Party  a path he describes as a search for the right platform to serve ordinary Ugandans.

His first shot came in 2021 when he contested for Hoima East on the FDC ticket but fell short. In the just-concluded elections, he tried again  this time in Nakawa West under the Common Man’s Party  finishing third behind the leader of opposition in Parliament and National Unity Platform’s Joel Ssenyonyi.

In a recent interview with Spark TV, he thanked his supporters for standing with him and emphasized that Nakawa isn’t just a constituency  it’s home.

“I received about 600 votes, and I’m grateful for each one. I congratulate Hon. Joel Ssenyonyi upon his victory. I only ask him to work for the people. And if there’s need, we can always join hands to serve Nakawa together,” Rwamiti said.

He added that he has lived among the people of Nakawa his entire life and has no plans of relocating or abandoning the community.Instead, his eyes are firmly set on the future.

“Come 2031, I will be back on the ballot,” he declared confidently.

For now, Miles Rwamiti may have lost the seat  but he hasn’t lost the fight.
