NUP’s Mulyanyama on the Spot as Doubts Grow Over His Academic Documents

NUP flag bearer for Makindye East , Ali Nganda Kasirye Mulyanyama is facing fresh scrutiny over alleged inconsistencies in his academic documents and official name records as he seeks a parliamentary seat in the forthcoming general election.

The storm started after claims that Mulyanyama studied in the UK and USA, yet he reportedly submitted only an Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) results slip to the Electoral Commission. Critics argue this raises questions about the authenticity of his academic papers.

On the issue of names, documents show that in March 2016, Mulyanyama legally changed his name from Nganda Alan to Kasirye Nganda Ali through a Gazette and Deed Poll in Kampala.

The deed confirms he renounced his former name and adopted the new one for all official and private dealings.

Despite the legal name change, debate continues over whether his academic submissions meet the Electoral Commission’s standards. His opponents say the lack of a verified A-Level certificate is suspicious, while supporters argue the matter is being exaggerated for political gain.

Mulyanyama has dismissed the allegations, insisting his education record is clean and open to verification by anyone who doubts it.

Born on August 31, 1980, Mulyanyama is a long-serving Makindye Division leader who has moved across political parties before settling with NUP. The unfolding saga adds another twist to the heated run-up to the 2026 general elections.
