Ugandan singer and Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF) president Eddy Kenzo, has come out to address growing concerns and allegations circulating on social media regarding the Federation’s accountability and financial management.
For several weeks, UNMF has been under public scrutiny over claims of mismanagement within its Savings and Credit Cooperative Organisation (SACCO). The government previously allocated Shs5 billion to support musicians’ welfare through the Federation, but online users have questioned how these funds were distributed.
Some critics alleged that the money was deposited into Kenzo’s personal account instead of the Federation’s official one. Others claimed that while UNMF had lobbied for an additional Shs5 billion, the funds were withheld by the Ministry of Finance, despite earlier approval by Gen. Salim Saleh.
The debate has since fueled online campaigns demanding greater transparency and accountability from the Federation’s leadership.
In a statement shared across his social media pages, Kenzo dismissed the accusations as “deliberate propaganda” aimed at dividing the Federation and undermining its work.

“There have been online campaigns and propaganda intended to sow doubt and discord among us. Let’s respond with clarity, calm, and confidence,” Kenzo said.
He further noted that such attempts to weaken the Federation’s unity were not new.
“History shows that every attempt to fracture our unity has failed whenever we stand together in truth and purpose,” he remarked.
Kenzo reaffirmed UNMF’s commitment to transparency, integrity, and accountability, stressing that both the Federation and its SACCO are fully answerable to their members and the relevant authorities.
“We have and will continue to uphold our duties with transparency and integrity,” he said.
He also emphasized the importance of privacy, especially when handling members’ personal and creative information.
“We are committed to protecting the privacy of every member. We will not compromise on this value, even in the face of intimidation or propaganda,” he added.
Kenzo urged members to remain united, focused, and resilient, reminding them that their shared mission goes beyond negative online narratives.
“Our strength lies in togetherness, disciplined action, and a shared commitment to our members’ welfare. We do not waver in the face of negative campaigns,” he stated
Reaffirming UNMF’s long-term vision, Kenzo said the Federation remains focused on unity, advocacy, financial empowerment, mutual aid, and responsible leadership.
“Our cause — Together for the Music — remains unwavering and will prevail over intrigue, malice, and propaganda,” he concluded.
Kenzo encouraged artists to stay informed, engage constructively, and report any concerns through official channels, assuring them that the Federation remains strong and committed to its mission.
“UNMF and our SACCO are here to stay. Our togetherness and shared mission will outlast all attempts to derail us,” he affirmed.
