National Unity Platform (NUP) president Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, popularly known as Bobi Wine, has called on party leaders to prioritise grassroots mobilisation in their respective areas instead of following him on the campaign trail.

Speaking at the NUP headquarters in Makerere Kavule on Saturday during the party’s manifesto unveiling, Kyagulanyi emphasised that building a “new Uganda” requires collective effort, discipline, and active participation at the local level.

“I really appreciate your company on the campaign trail, but I would rather you spend more time in your constituencies. Inform people, build teams, and help make the dream a reality.”,he told the leaders

Kyagulanyi said the newly unveiled manifesto captures the aspirations of young Ugandans who envision a nation rooted in justice, opportunity, and shared responsibility. He urged party leaders to take the message directly to the people.

“We are not just ‘agende’ as Mao always, We are fighting to define our own destiny. These ideas represent a new generation that wants to see a new country.”,he remarked.

He  stressed that the responsibility to organise, educate, and mobilise applies not only to citizens but also to party officials themselves.

“We are going to build a new country for ourselves and our children by ourselves, dreams only become reality when we take action. In life, we don’t get what we deserve; we get what we fight for.”,he said.

Kyagulanyi warned against opportunism, insisting that the party’s mission must remain grounded in integrity rather than material gain.

“We will not hand out rice or make empty promises. Every leader must take responsibility for delivering on our shared vision,” he stated.

He encouraged leaders to simplify the manifesto into local languages and use creative communication tools  such as music, art, and social media  to make NUP’s message accessible to all Ugandans.

“Use your talents to make the message clear,” he advised. “Even if someone doesn’t support NUP, help them understand what Uganda can become.”,he advised.

Anticipating possible communication blackouts, Kyagulanyi urged leaders to prepare alternative channels of coordination and establish community discussion groups to sustain political dialogue.

“Find alternative means of communication; it can be cut off anytime, form study groups, burn the midnight oil you never know, your group might find the solution that transforms our country.”,he cautioned.

Concluding his address, Kyagulanyi reminded supporters that the manifesto is not merely a campaign document but a declaration of commitment to collective struggle and transformation.

“Make it clear to the people what they are voting for,Choosing the umbrella means choosing the fight for dignity, freedom, and a new Uganda.”,he said .

The manifesto launch signalled a new phase in NUP’s mobilisation efforts, with Kyagulanyi urging both leaders and citizens to take ownership of the vision and work together to turn the party’s promises into reality.
