Singer and former NBS TV presenter Sekidde Robert, popularly known as Tuff B, is stepping into politics but isn’t ready to leave his music career behind.
As he eyes the Member of Parliament seat for Makindye West, many expected him to shift his full attention from music to politics but Tuff B says otherwise.
Speaking to journalists after his vetting at the National Unity Platform (NUP) headquarters, Tuff reaffirmed his commitment to music, stating that it remains an integral part of his life, even as he embraces leadership ambitions.
“I haven’t quit music,I still sing—just at a slower pace. But now, the main focus in my music is on fighting for change and building a better country.”,Tuff said.
In recent years, Uganda’s entertainment scene has seen a surge of artists crossing over into politics. Inspired by NUP leader Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, better known as Bobi Wine, many entertainers have taken up political roles, blending activism with their creative platforms.
During the last general elections, several artists contested various political positionssome emerged victorious, while others didn’t but the fusion of music and politics continues to shape Uganda’s sociopolitical landscape.
