The Uganda Bureau of Hajj Affairs has released the findings of its investigation into singer Chosen Becky’s recent visit to Mecca, confirming she did not travel as part of any official Ugandan Umrah group. Instead, the Bureau revealed, she entered Saudi Arabia on a tourist visa issued from Mali.
The probe was launched after videos of Becky, whose real name is Rebecca Kukiriza, walking near the Kaaba in Mecca went viral. Her appearance at the holy site raised concerns, particularly after she confirmed upon her return that she is not a Muslim.

Presenting the report to the media, Bureau chairman Sheikh Zakaria Kyewalyanga explained that Becky did not travel for religious purposes, but rather to perform at music concerts in cities including Jeddah, Dammam, and Riyadh.
“No Umrah company in Uganda facilitated her travel. She left the country to perform at concerts, not for pilgrimage,” Sheikh Kyewalyanga stated.
He added that her visa was obtained through Bamako, Mali, and not processed by any licensed Umrah operator in Uganda.
The investigation identified a promoter, known only as Rasul, as the individual who arranged her travel for the performances. Rasul, contacted in Saudi Arabia, confirmed that her visit to Mecca was not part of their agreement.

He said that after her concerts, Chosen Becky informed him that her fiancé, Abdul Kadhir Ssekajja, was flying in to meet her.
It was Ssekajja, the Bureau reported, who then took her to Mecca. This act was strongly condemned by the Bureau, citing Islamic teachings and Saudi regulations that strictly forbid non-Muslims from entering the holy city.
“She was taken there by someone who knew it was wrong, Islamic law and Saudi regulations are clear—non-Muslims are not permitted in Mecca.”,Sheikh Kyewalyanga said
The Bureau called Ssekajja’s actions “an affront to Islam” and urged him to repent and seek forgiveness from both Allah and the Muslim community.
As for Chosen Becky, the Bureau acknowledged that she may not have been fully aware of the religious implications of her visit. Still, they encouraged her to seek forgiveness for the act and concluded with a striking message: “You should also convert to Islam.”
