Police in Kanungu District have arrested 28-year-old Byaruhanga Hillary, a private security guard with Don World Security Limited, in connection with the murder of his boss, Anthony Mutinisa, a 53-year-old businessman and owner of Mutinisa Motors Uganda.
Byaruhanga is accused of fatally shooting Mutinisa on Sunday evening at the victim’s office located on Martyrs Way in Ntinda, Kampala.
At the time of the incident, Mutinisa was reportedly working alone. Following the shooting, the suspect fled the scene in the victim’s vehicle, a car with registration number UA 769 BQ.
The stolen vehicle was later recovered by police in Katwe Cell, Kihihi Town Council in Kanungu District. During the arrest, Byaruhanga was found in the company of another individual, Akampa Mark, who has also been taken into custody.
Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire confirmed that officers from Ntinda and Kira Road police stations responded to the shooting. The suspected murder weapon, along with four rounds of ammunition, was recovered at the scene.
The motive for the killing remains unclear, and investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident are ongoing.
