Renowned Ugandan events promoter, Norbert Twizire, popularly known as Nobat Events, has found himself in legal hot water over an unpaid debt amounting to UGX 5 million.
Nobat was arrested at Kololo Airstrip during President Museveni’s 81st birthday celebrations and has since spent several nights in detention at the Central Police Station (CPS) in Kampala.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire, Nobat was initially held to assist with investigations into an ongoing case involving an alleged assault by socialite Full Figure.
Earlier today, Nobat was granted police bond in relation to a separate charge under Section 28(1)(2) of the Computer Misuse Act, concerning malicious information.
However, moments after his release, he was immediately re-arrested and taken to Makindye court to answer charges related to a debt exceeding UGX 5 million.
The complainant, Luswata William, claims he lent Nobat the money in 2024 to support the Miss Bukedde beauty pageant. As security for the loan, Nobat allegedly offered a Toyota Mark X only for Luswata to later discover the car did not belong to him. The vehicle was subsequently repossessed by its rightful owner, a one Mr. Kawere.
Since then, Luswata alleges, Nobat has been evasive until his unexpected re-arrest at CPS today.
The case is still unfolding. Stay tuned for more updates.
