The Minister of State for Youth and Children Affairs, Hon. Balaam Barugahara, has cautioned singer Chosen Becky over her decision to change her children’s names, saying the move could attract legal consequences.
Speaking to journalists, Minister Balaam said Chosen Becky has no legal authority to remove the children’s biological father’s names and replace them with those of her new husband.
“The ministry can even take the children away. She has no right to change the kids’ names from their father’s,” Balaam said.
His remarks follow reports that Chosen Becky altered her children’s names, replacing their father’s identity with that of her current husband, Abdul Ssekajja.
The issue has triggered widespread public debate, with many questioning parental rights, legal procedures, and the best interests of the children.
By press time, Chosen Becky had not issued an official response to the minister’s statements.
