Captain Mike Mukula, the former NRM National Vice chairman for Eastern region and renowned businessman, has officially launched Arrow Boys Football Club and Academy in Soroti, a move many see as a big boost for football in Teso.
The colourful event was held at Timisha Hotel in Soroti City, where Mukula said the club and academy will focus on grooming young talent from the region and turning them into professional players.
Mukula noted that football is a powerful unifier, just like the original Arrow Boys who stood together to protect Teso years ago. He added that the sport can also change lives financially, pointing to global stars who have built wealth through football.
The Arrow Boys Academy will mainly scout talent from schools, with a long-term goal of sending the best players to top clubs abroad. Mukula also announced plans to upgrade Oligoi Playground into a modern home ground with turf, fencing and floodlights.
He further revealed plans to lobby for a Teso Stadium and promote other sports to grow the region’s sports economy.
FUFA North Eastern Region chairman John Odongo and other sports leaders praised Mukula for investing in football, calling on the people of Teso to support the project.
Coaches and fans welcomed the initiative, saying it will create jobs, keep youths busy and finally put Teso on Uganda’s football map.
