Troubled Masaka -based businessman Lwasa Acram is once again in the spotlight after the Makindye Magistrates Court granted him bail following his arrest on charges of obtaining money by false pretense.
He was picked up on Tuesday and detained at Katwe Police Station, before being produced in court to answer to multiple accusations involving fraudulent transactions.
According to prosecution, on 23rd September 2024, at Lwanga Zone in Makindye Division, Lwasa allegedly obtained UGX 21 million from a one Robert, claiming he would sell him a Toyota vehicle with a personalized number plate “Lwasa 4” a deal that never materialized.
Court documents further show that on 22nd and 28th August 2025, Lwasa issued two cheques worth UGX 4.2M and UGX 8M to the same complainant, but both bounced due to insufficient funds.
While applying for bail, He presented his wife and driver as sureties. However, only his wife was accepted by court.
The magistrate granted the businessman non-cash bail of UGX 40M, while his wife was bonded UGX 30M. He has been ordered to return to court on 8th January 2026.
