Musician Daxx Kartel has been left counting losses after police abruptly cancelled his highly anticipated concert at the last minute.
The singer was set to perform at Gangu Grounds in Kampala, where thousands of fans had already gathered. However, at around 9:00pm, police officers reportedly stormed the venue, dispersed revelers and arrested some members of Daxx Kartel’s team, leaving many confused and disappointed.
Sources say the show was cancelled after authorities claimed the singer had not secured the required police clearance to host the event.
Eyewitnesses reveal that police arrived just as Daxx Kartel was preparing to take the stage, forcing promoters to shut down the show and clear the venue.
Shortly after the incident, a visibly upset Daxx Kartel took to social media to voice his frustration.
“BREAKING; #POLICE HAS CANCELLED MY CONCERT EVEN BEFORE STEPPING IN 😭,” he posted.
The sudden cancellation is said to have caused huge financial losses, including money spent on the venue, sound, security arrangements and promotions
It is also reported his extra show which was scheduled for 14th December in Kalagi was also cancelled under similar circumstances .
Daxx Kartel is a known supporter of the National Unity Platform (NUP) and has been active in mobilization for the party’s presidential candidate, Robert Kyagulanyi, alias Bobi Wine a factor that has since sparked debate and speculation online.
By press time, police had not yet released an official statement regarding the incident.
