Musician Ibrahim Mayanja, widely known by his stage name Big Eye StarBoss, has expressed strong confidence in his quest to clinch the National Unity Platform (NUP) flag for the Nansana Municipality parliamentary seat.

Speaking to the media after submitting his expression of interest forms to the NUP Electoral Committee at the party’s headquarters in Makerere-Kavule, Big Eye StarBoss stated, “I believe I have a 90% chance of winning the NUP primaries and securing the party ticket.”

He attributed his optimism to his active engagement with the local community and the growing support he continues to receive.

“The people of Nansana have faith in me. They see my commitment to serve and represent them in the next Parliament,” he said.

Despite his confidence, the competition for the NUP endorsement is shaping up to be tough. Big Eye will face off against two strong contenders: the incumbent MP Wakayima Musoke, who is seeking a second term, and veteran journalist Zambali Mukasa, who recently transitioned from NBS TV to pursue a political career among others.

As Uganda’s leading opposition party especially influential in the Buganda region NUP is expected to conduct its primaries next month. The nomination process is ongoing, with several aspirants continuing to collect and return their forms, signaling an intense internal contest.

The outcome of these primaries will set the tone for what is expected to be a highly competitive general election in Nansana, one of Uganda’s most politically active constituencies.
