Ugandan singer An-Known has publicly accused renowned producer, songwriter, and singer Daddy Andre of accepting full payment for studio services but failing to deliver the agreed-upon work.
In a recent statement, An-Known claimed that Daddy Andre took his money and vanished without completing the project.
“Daddy Andre took my money and he disappeared and didn’t deliver,” he said.
Typically, artists in Uganda’s music industry pay only a portion usually half of the studio fees upfront. However, An-Known alleges that in this case, Daddy Andre insisted on receiving full payment before beginning any work.
At the time, Daddy Andre was reportedly working from Spice Diana’s 32 Records studio. But after receiving the payment, An-Known says the producer became unreachable.
“He disappeared like the Bachwezi. When we called, his phone was off. I don’t know if he blocked me, but we kept trying. We even returned to 32 Records, only to be told he no longer works there. They said we made a mistake by not asking for a receipt,” An-Known explained.
The betrayal stings more, he added, because he admired Daddy Andre and believed in his integrity.
“I just loved Andre and thought he was an honest person. I still demand my song to this day,” he said.
Despite repeated attempts to follow up, An-Known maintains that he never received the promised work.
The incident has sparked debate within Uganda’s music circles, raising concerns about professionalism and accountability in the industry.
As of now, Daddy Andre has not issued a public response to the allegations.
