Kampala Capital City Authority Football Club (KCCA FC) has confirmed the signing of Alpha Thierry Ssali, son of celebrated Ugandan musician Moses Ssali, popularly known as Bebe Cool, on a two-year contract.
The 21-year-old winger makes the move from NEC FC, despite still having a running contract with the club. His signing was officially announced through KCCA FC’s social media platforms.
Alpha brings with him a wealth of experience, having represented Uganda at two U20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournaments in 2021 and 2023. Known for his pace and versatility, he is capable of operating effectively on both flanks, adding much-needed depth and dynamism to KCCA FC’s attacking lineup.
But Alpha’s arrival at Lugogo is more than just a transfer it marks a powerful moment in the club’s storied history. He is the grandson of ‘Mister’ Jaberi Bidandi Ssali, a legendary figure and one of KCCA FC’s founding members back in 1963.
Bidandi Ssali played a pivotal role in the establishment and early success of the club, serving as head coach and team manager from the late 1960s through the 1970s. Under his leadership, KCCA FC rose to prominence, producing players who would become key figures in the Uganda Cranes during the 60s, 70s, and 80s.
For the club, welcoming Alpha is more than acquiring a promising young talent—it’s a symbolic continuation of a proud legacy. The Ssali name is once again represented in the yellow and blue, bridging generations and reinforcing the deep roots that connect KCCA FC to its origin story.
Speaking about the move, Alpha shared his excitement:
“Joining KCCA FC is a dream come true. This club has a rich history, and my family has always had a strong bond with it. I feel a deep connection here and I’m ready to give my best, work hard with my teammates, and help bring success to the club.”
Co-Head Coach Brian Ssenyondo expressed his enthusiasm about the new signing:
“Alpha is a highly talented player with a great attitude. His ability to play on both wings gives us tactical flexibility. We believe he will be an important asset to the team. Having someone from the Bidandi Ssali lineage back at the club is truly special.”
Club legend and board member Tom Lwanga echoed similar sentiments:
