“Whoever Tries to Disturb Uganda’s Peace, Will Be Handled Swiftly” – Museveni Warns Ahead of 2026 Elections

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has assured Ugandans that the upcoming 2026 elections will be peaceful, warning that anyone planning to cause chaos will face firm action from security forces.

While addressing journalists at Mbale State Lodge on Saturday night, Museveni emphasized that the government is fully prepared to protect the country’s stability. The meeting was attended by top NRM leaders, who discussed key campaign strategies and achievements.

Museveni said Uganda has strong intelligence and security systems to prevent any form of violence or political disorder.

“You cannot bring games of chaos here. Those may work elsewhere, but not in Uganda. Anybody who tries to disturb our peace, we shall deal with them swiftly.”,Museveni Stated.

He noted that government has also tightened measures to ensure violent offenders do not walk free on bail, saying the days of impunity are over.

Museveni cited recent operations against individuals linked to cross-border disturbances and foreigners accused of training people to riot. He said security agencies are closely monitoring both internal and external groups that may try to destabilize Uganda.

“We know these groups and who funds them. They fear Uganda’s progress and want to disrupt it, but we have the situation under control,” Museveni added.

The President called on Ugandans to embrace peaceful expression of opinions instead of destructive demonstrations.

“If you are angry, go and demonstrate peacefully, but do not destroy property that belongs to all of us.Why burn what benefits everyone? Our infrastructure, schools, and businesses are built from taxpayers’ money.”Museveni said.

Museveni also encouraged national unity and regional cooperation, saying Uganda’s economic growth depends on stability and integration within the East African Community.

“We must unite for prosperity and strength. If we remain divided, we stay weak. But united, we become powerful,” he said.

Museveni concluded by reaffirming that the NRM government is committed to peace, national development, and ensuring the country continues moving forward.

“No one will disturb our peace,” he said.
