President Yoweri Museveni has called on leaders in Lyantonde District to separate politics from personal gain, stressing that leadership is about service, not money.

Speaking at a rally in Kaliro Town Council Playground, where he unveiled the NRM Manifesto for 2026–2031, Museveni reminded leaders that many political conflicts arise when leadership is treated as a source of livelihood.

“Politics should never be your livelihood. If you join politics because of money, you are doing the country a disservice. With or without money, you must serve,” he said.

Drawing on his liberation struggle experience, Museveni added, “Who was paying us when we were in the bush? No one. Politics is about the people, not personal gain.”

He praised NRM’s role in ensuring peace, calling it Uganda’s biggest achievement. “Peace is not accidental. It came because we rejected division and built strong institutions like the army, police, and judiciary,” he noted.

The President also warned against election-related violence: “I hear there are people planning to riot. They should not dare. No one will disrupt Uganda’s peace.”

On development, Museveni confirmed ongoing road works on key routes including Mubende–Kabamba–Nkonji–Ntutsi–Sembabule and pledged more infrastructure projects. He urged residents to engage in wealth creation through commercial agriculture, manufacturing, services, and ICT, highlighting successful local farmers as examples.

He also reaffirmed government support for education and skills training through Presidential Skilling Hubs, noting that many beneficiaries have started businesses and created jobs.

The rally drew thousands of supporters, Members of Parliament, cultural and religious leaders, and NRM Central Executive Committee members.
