URA , David Obua Part ways After Just Five Months

Four- times Uganda Premier League champions, URA FC have moved separate ways with head coach David Obua

The developments come just five months since his appointment in the hot seat on a one -year employment contract.

In the statement shared by the club, David Obua left the club by mutual consent and Robert Mukasa will take on his role as interim coach for the rest of the season.

“After careful consideration and mutual agreement, URA FC and Head Coach David Obua have decided to part ways, terminating his one-year contract five months into his tenure,” URA confirmed in a statement.

“Alongside him, his first assistant Peter Byaruhanga Adyeri and fitness coach Kawa have also left the club.”

“Robert Mukasa will assume the role of caretaker coach for the rest of the season, supported by Ilic Milosh, Allan Owiny, Robert Ssentongo, and Goalkeeping Coach Swaibu Ssebagala.”

Obua has been in charge of 20 games across all competitions, and has accumulated just eight victories.

URA, under the former Kaizer Chiefs star, has lost a whooping eight times and managed four stalemates.

In the Uganda Premier League, under Obua, URA have won six times, drawn seven and lost four in 17 matches.

They sit ninth on the 16-team log with 31 points in 23 matches, and crashed out of the Stanbic Uganda Cup at the hands of KCCA FC weeks back.

URA’s next game is five days away on April 16 against title challengers NEC FC in the UPL.
