Uganda Cranes Fall 3-0 to Cameroon in International Friendly

The Uganda Cranes suffered a 3-0 defeat to the Cameroon Indomitable Lions in an international build-up match held on Friday, 6th June 2025, at the Stade de Marrakech Annexe in Morocco.

Cameroon’s goals came from Flavien Boyomo, Jean Batoum, and Patrick Soko.

Boyomo, who plays for Spanish side Osasuna, opened the scoring in the 34th minute, heading in a well-placed free-kick delivered from the left flank by Mahamadou Nagida of Stade Rennais.

Two minutes into the second half, Jean Batoum doubled the lead with a powerful header from a corner delivered by CSKA Sofia right-back James Eto’o.

Cameroon sealed the win in the 67th minute when Huesca forward Patrick Soko calmly slotted home a pass from Vincent Aboubakar. The experienced forward had come on at halftime to replace Adrien Mfoumou.

Uganda made several substitutions in the second half. Travis Mutyaba replaced Allan Okello at the break, while Patrick Jonah Kakande came on for Rogers Mato in the 67th minute.

Muhammed Shaban substituted Denis Omedi with 13 minutes left, Arafat Usama replaced Hakim Kiwanuka, and goalkeeper Isima Watenga came on for Nafian Alionzi in stoppage time.

The Cranes’ unused substitutes included goalkeeper Joel Mutakubwa, Tony Sibbick, Arnold Odong, Nico Wakiro Wadada, Ivan Ahimbisibwe, Abdu Karim Watambala, and Isaac Muleme.

Cameroon, coached by Marc Brys, currently sits 50th in the FIFA World Rankings, while Uganda is ranked 89th.

Uganda’s next warm-up match is scheduled for 9th July 2025 against The Gambia (ranked 126th), also in Morocco.
