Teachers at Kampala Parents’ School, located in Naguru and owned by Uganda’s wealthiest businessman, Sudhir Ruparelia, have staged a protest over their low wages.

The primary school, which is part of Ruparelia’s vast business empire, has sparked frustration among staff members who are speaking out about their poor compensation.

In a video shared on social media, teachers voiced their grievances, with one remarking, “How can you work in a shop where you cannot eat something?”

Teachers also alleged they are being confined indoors to prevent them from protesting.

A key complaint from the teachers is the apparent pay disparity, with some claiming that Indian employees enjoy preferential treatment. They cited an example where a gatekeeper earns up to Shs 3 million, while teachers are paid as little as Shs 600,000 per month.

Some staff members revealed that their monthly salary can be as low as Shs 200,000. Additionally, teachers alleged that Indian staff are paid in dollars, while they themselves are poorly fed, with their meals remaining unchanged.
