Retired singer Sherry Matovu has shared the reasons behind her decision to retire from music, revealing that she stepped away because she realized singing wasn’t her true talent.

While her passion for music was undeniable, Sherry acknowledged that it wasn’t her calling. She believes it’s important to be true to oneself and not waste time, money, or energy on something that doesn’t fit.

“I had built a name for myself in music, but I realized I needed to do something else—something that would allow me to support others with the talent I didn’t have. Singing simply wasn’t my strength,” she explained.

Despite enjoying music, Sherry admitted that her voice didn’t align with the industry’s expectations.

“I didn’t want to risk embarrassing myself,” she said, adding that music was draining her finances without offering much in return.

Though stepping away was a difficult choice, Sherry feels it was the right one. She transitioned into more profitable business ventures, which have provided her with greater success and stability than her music career ever did.

“You have to invest so much into music to prove yourself. So, I started a business that was more financially rewarding,” Sherry shared.

Even though she no longer pursues a career in music, Sherry has no regrets about her time in the industry. However, she remains resolute in her decision not to return to the music scene.
